Asphalt cold patch is used to repair blacktop, and fill potholes or wide cracks in driveways, parking lots, walkways and roads.
It is most important to clean the area of any loose material. Once the hole is filled, it is tamped down or tire-rolled as the cold patch is set from compaction. If the repair area is more than two inches deep, apply and compact in 1 to 2 inch layers. Try to leave a slight crown when tamping. If settling occurs sometime in the future, clean off the surface and add another layer.
Asphalt patch may be stored indefinitely, inside or outside. If the bag feels solid or frozen, dropping or rolling it on the ground will loosen the material. If past repairs begin to crack or show wear, apply another layer.
